Working with Found Imagery

Applying the Found Imagery
At first i was playing around with images i thought worked well together. Changed them to black and white. this contridictes my intetions with the book and made it slightly confusing.
Started experimenting by cropping and zooming into details on the pictures to places i found most exciting and pleasing while also linking it to my book.

Found Imagery In My Photobook:
I think breaking up the image helps the viewer take it in more slowly as it gives them more time to observe and look at the different segments individually as there own pieces as then a whole.
Comparing to Larry Sultans 'Pictures From Home' Found Imagery:
When comparing my work to Larry Sultan's, he tends to crop the images to enlarge the faces, this is more up close and personal, which in my work I tried to avoid. For example, every image I included of my Grandad was cropped in a way to only display parts of his face, so to the audience he was never properly introduced. This creates a sense of animosity, further expanding on the 'sick' feeling of something missing, to keep the photobook more personal and a little secretive. Comparing this to other 'found images' of my family and me, where faces are included creating confusion to why his are missing.
